Roger Freeman

Founder and President Roger Freeman has more than 25 years experience and expertise in the clean energy sector. Prior to founding Solventerra, Roger served as EVP of Citizens Energy Corporation, where he helped manage Citizens through the energy market deregulation and restructuring of the 1990s. He subsequently advised legal clients on energy regulation and distributed generation, and then led CItizen’s wind development business building a 500+ MW pipeline of projects. He is experienced in all aspects of renewable energy project development, including: business strategy, site prospecting and resource assessment, legal contracting and regulatory affairs, permitting, project management, power marketing, financial modeling and construction management.  Most recently, Mr. Freeman has led complex energy procurement programs for on-site energy for corporate clients.  

Roger is a graduate of University of Virginia School of Law, and received a B.S. in Economics from Oberlin College. He served as an elected Commisioner of the Hingham Municipal Light Department from 2015 to 2021.

 

Laurie Freeman

As Senior Advisor, Laurie brings 10+ years of legal and trial experience to assist clients in understanding and mitigating risks associated with renewable energy project development and procurement. She advises corporate and municipal clients on renewable energy strategy/policy, project development and regulation. Laurie also manages on-site renewable energy solar projects and renewable energy sales for Solventerra Western Ave, LLC.

Laurie served on the Town of Hingham Conservation Commission for 6 years, elected to chair the Board for the last two years. She was recently appointed to the town’s new Climate Action Task Force.   Laurie received her Juris Doctor degree from Washington & Lee University, School of Law and her Bachelor of Arts degree from Oberlin College.
