Roger Freeman, Managing Principal

Roger is an energy entrepreneur and lawyer with 15+ years experience starting, managing and advising alternative energy companies and investors. Prior to founding Solventerra, Roger was Managing Director of Energy Ventures for Citizens Energy Corporation. At Citizens, Roger was co-founder and CEO of Citizens Wind, a wind power development division that developed and sold 225 MW of wind power and built an active development portfolio of more than 1500 MW of wind projects throughout North America. He was also founder of Citizens Energy Services, a business division providing energy services to colleges and municipalities.

He serves on the Board of Advisors for Urgent VC, a renewable energy development and finance company and Sustainability Roundtable, Inc. He remains Of Counsel to Ferriter Scobbo & Rodophele, an energy boutique law firm in Boston. He serves as Coordinator for the Energy and Environment Working Group of the Progressive Business Leaders Network and sits on the Editorial Board of Advisors for Distributed Energy Magazine.

Roger holds a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and a BA in economics, with honors, from Oberlin College.

Mary Jo Sisk, Principal

Mary Jo is an operations engineer who brings a wealth of renewable energy and real estate management and finance experience to the Solventerra team. Prior to co-founding Solventerra, Mary Jo was a financial consultant to the Energy Ventures division of Citizens Energy. From 2003-2008, she was a Vice President at Paradigm Properties and Ashforth Paradigm Capital Advisors (APCA) where she was responsible for all aspects of operations for APCA's 1031 business including acquisition and due diligence, debt and equity financing, and asset management. Mary Jo also served as a financial consultant under Paradigm's Development Services Group on a wide range of client engagements requiring complex financing including: the New Market Tax Credits, Tax Exempt Bonds, Permanent Loans, Construction Loans, and Land Loans. Mary Jo began her career in 1998 as a Consultant at SCA Consulting, a management consulting firm focused on performance measurement and compensation programs.

Mary Jo holds a B.S.E. in Operations Management with a certificate in Environmental Studies from Princeton University.

David Doucette, Principal

Dave has over 34 years of technical and financial experience in the development, operation and management of energy systems and equipment for institutional, industrial and commercial businesses including mechanical/electrical energy efficiency, cogeneration, renewable energy and thermal energy projects. For the past 16 years Dave provided his expert services as Principal of Energy Program Consulting, the energy consulting firm he founded for assisting clients with developing and implementing energy efficiency, renewable energy and distributed generation projects at client owned facilities. Prior to founding Energy Program Consulting, Dave was Director of National Accounts for Kenetech Energy Management, Inc., a full service energy services company that provided energy performance contracting to large institutional, industrial, commercial and governmental clients in North America.

Recent projects include several roof-top solar PV installations on affordable housing developments in Massachusetts; a campus-wide energy efficiency improvement program for Citizens Energy at a private college in Brookline, MA; and a 6 MW Cogeneration project for Suez Energy at a large candy manufacturing plant and corporate headquarters in Revere, MA.

Dave holds a B.S Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University and is a senior member of the Association of Energy Engineers, Cogeneration Institute of AEE, and is a past recipient of the Energy Users News “Certificate of Merit” in the Integrated Engineering category of EUN's Efficient Building Awards Program.

Greg Hering, Development Director

Greg founded Emergent Energy Group where he created finance-based prospecting algorithms for GIS and remote sensing platforms and used those to prospect for wind farms in Maine and solar projects in New Jersey. Emergent named 2009 winner of Businessweek's Top 25 Under 25.
